Marks & Spencer teams up with Alexa Chung to showcase their archive collection under the name "Archive by Alexa."

"Archive by Alexa" is a collection of womenswear which have reportedly been handpicked by Chung herself. Marks & Spencer revealed on its official website that Chung, along with the brand's design team, will curate 31 pieces of womenswear coming from its extensive archive. According to Marks & Spencer, these clothes will basically be the classic fashion pieces but brought back with a "modern spin."

"I have always had an affection for Marks & Spencer. I am thrilled to be part of this special and unique project," Chung said in a statement posted on the brand's website.

The brand also gave a teaser to what one of the fashion pieces from "Archive by Alexa" could be. A photo of Chung dressed in a pie-crust collar is posted by Marks & Spencer on its website. The fashion piece is said to be very British-inspired, according to The Guardian. The piece is reminiscent of the fashion style worn during Princess Diana's time but with a modern edge.

Marks & Spencer also shared another photo of Chung admiring a sleeveless dress with a swooped neckline. The style icon is also seen rifling through the archives in another black-and-white shot shared by the brand on its website.

Chung revealed the process of her collaboration with Marks & Spencer in an exclusive interview with Vogue magazine. The 32-year-old assured her pieces for "Archive by Alexa" will not disappoint loyal fans of the high-street retailer.

"I pulled from stored garments, in-house magazines and TV adverts from various points in the history of Marks & Spencer to create the collection that I believe looks every bit as relevant today as it did then," she said.

Chung also expressed her excitement to collaborate with Marks & Spencer in the same interview with Vogue magazine. She said she had so much fun rifling through the brand's archive to pick out the "very best of their vast collection of pieces."

"Archive by Alexa" is reportedly the first of the "M&S &" series, which will launch in April. According to Mail Online, Marks & Spencer's decision to collaborate with the model could be an attempt to help with sales after experiencing a drop in numbers. The site claimed Marks & Spencer is hoping to replicate its sales success last year after Chung wore one of the brand's 1970s-styled skirt.
