Mary received a family visit while Henry's insanity worsened on the latest episode of "Reign."

The episode "Toy Soldiers" picks up a month after Francis (Tony Regbo) locked Mary (Adelaide Kane) in the tower. She's informed that protestants are demanding her mother's surrender, so she invites her uncle, the Duke of Guise, to court to implore him to use his army to defend her mother.

He arrives at court, and it turns out he's not a fan of Mary's mother. Years ago, he was dismissed from Mary's father's power because of his cruel and selfish ways.

It's revealed that the Duke has designs to be the magistrate of France. Francis agrees that his uncle-in-law can be his magistrate when he became king, but only on the condition that his men report directly to him. Francis also insists that he go to Scotland with them.

Meanwhile, Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) and Bash (Torrance Coombs) finally consummate their forced marriage, but it's clear that Bash still has lingering feelings for Mary.

Greer's (Celina Sinden) father and sisters also show up at court, revealing that Greer's father is also a vicious man. Lord Castleroy sees that her family is in financial straits, so he offers each of Greer's sisters a handsome dowry. His only condition upon giving them the money is that their father has to promise that his daughters will marry for love.

Geer and Castleroy then share their first kiss, and Greer says that if feels "surprisingly right."

Meanwhile, Henry (Alan van Sprang) is becoming increasingly unhinged. Henry is convinced that France needs to capture Calais in order to eventually seize England. He sends forces into Calais without anyone knowing.

Francis decides to help Henry's army by using the Duke of Guise's army to help take Calais.

Mary became angry at Francis over putting the business with her mother on the back burner, but he goes to fight at Calais anyway. Mary then tells her ladies-in-waiting that she will not let Francis put Scotland at risk again.

On the next episode, "Higher Ground," "Mary hires a mercenary to help her save Scotland. Meanwhile, Francis prepares France to wage war on England, and Leith becomes his ally in this endeavor; and Lola and Julien's bond deepens, but she fears he will betray her."
