Episode 5 of "The Shadowhunters" will test Alec and Jace's bond after Alec fails to keep Clary and Simon safe during a mission. Jace blames Alec after Clary and her best friend are kidnapped by werewolves.

A video preview for episode 5 of "The Shadowhunters" posted by Freeform on YouTube shows Clary, Simon and Alec on a separate mission away from Jace and Alec's sister Isabelle. According to Spoiler TV, they were sent by Isabelle's mother, Maryse Lightwood, to talk to the Seelies.

Being an experienced shadowhunter, Jace gives Alec the task to keep a close watch on Clary while they go their separate ways. However, Alec fails to honor Jace's request.

The video shows Clary and Simon ambushed by werewolves in broad daylight at a busy street and forced to get inside a waiting car. They are taken somewhere discreet, where Clary is forced to recall where her mother has hidden The Mortal Cup.

Clary is still trying to find a way to get her childhood memories back. In episode 4 of "The Shadowhunters", Magnus Bane revealed that he gave her memories to a demon. The warlock attempted to retrieve Clary's memories by evoking the demon. However, that plan backfired after the demon revealed Alec's true feeling for Jace.

Thus, Clary has no way of knowing where The Mortal Cup is. She insists she doesn't know where it is. However, the werewolves are not convinced and threaten to kill Simon if she doesn't tell them the cup's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, a nervous Alec is shown in the video below, attempting to find the best friends before Jace and Isabelle return. However, he soon realized that Clary and Simon are nowhere near.

Jace and Isabelle finally return from their mission. Jace confronts Alec about Clary and Simon's whereabouts and learns that they have been kidnapped. The video below shows a frustrated Jace blaming Alec for putting Clary in danger. Alec reasons out that he tried his best to watch over her and Simon.

In episode 5 of "The Shadowhunters", Clary will also meet Maryse Lightwood. Another video teaser for this week's episode shows Isabelle and Clary walking on the hallway when a door seemingly from another realm opens and in comes Mrs. Lightwood.

Likewise, fans learn from the video teaser below for episode 5 of "The Shadowhunters" that Alec and Isabelle have another brother named Max during a conversation between Isabelle and her mother. Clary also learns about the Shadowhunter's homeland called Idris. She also realizes that Maryse Lightwood is a tough woman.
