We all knew it was coming, but now it's official. Finally, after the long wait, Warner Bros. has announced that the DC superheroes are coming together to hit the big screen in 2017. After several attempts to bring them together, president of creative development & worldwide production of Warner Bros. Pictures Greg Silverman officially confirmed that the "Justice League" would in fact materialize on the big screen.

Zack Snyder will direct the much anticipated superhero film starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Ray Fischer as Cyborg, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and, of course, Henry Cavill as Superman, with more superheroes expected to join them. Producers are considering the possibility of casting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to portray a character, who would most likely be Lobo, Captain Marvel, or the Martian Manhunter. He could also be Darkseid, Brainiac, or Black Adam if he were to be a villain. In any case, Warner Bros. Pictures is definitely loading the film with many DC characters and expanding the existing superhero universe.

Despite being criticized and even mocked for entering the superhero team-up scene, which is already dominated by Marvel's "The Avengers" and their stand-alone superhero films, "Justice League" is still highly anticipated by many fans.

Producers, however, should be very careful with this project; several other plans for the very same characters have previously been derailed. The idea of the "Justice League" coming together has been around since 2008 before it was totally scrapped. A stand-alone film for Wonder Woman was rejected in 2005 as well. Furthermore, it will be important to develop the concept well so there isn't a repeat of an ill-conceived bust like what happened with Green Lantern.

If anything, the new-and-improved cast and a much more passionate and more focused production of "Justice League" could launch the franchise to success.
