Jon Jones almost jeopardized his upcoming match with UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier after earlier reports of possible violations of his probation.

The issue was first brought out in the open by TMZ when New Mexico officials were reportedly looking into a possible probation violation last week.

Bones is currently serving 18 months probation in line with his hit-and-run case that happened in April 2015. He was convicted last September, and one of the conditions is that he would not break any laws.

The issue seemed to have been the January 31 case where the former UFC champion was pulled over in Albuquerque for driving without a registration, no driver's license and no proof of insurance.

Such led to anxious moments, seeing that it was stated in his plea agreement that "if defendant violates that probation, defendant may be incarcerated for the balance of the sentence."

Jones dodged the bullet for this one when the D.A. said that they will not be filing any violation.

"This will be dealt with by a sanction at the probation level and we will not be filing a formal probation violation," read the statement via MMA Junkie.

With Jones in the clear, his upcoming tiff with Cormier for UFC 197 this April 23 is safe.

The highly awaited rematch will give Jones the chance to regain the title he never officially lost inside the Octagon. Jones was stripped of the title following an arrest with the hit-and-run incident charges in New Mexico.

With the title vacant, Cormier became the new champion when he defeated Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 last May. Cormier filled in for Jones at the time since it was originally set to be a Jones vs. Johnson setto.

For Cormier, UFC 197 goes beyond just being a title fight. DC is looking for payback after losing to Jones in January 2015, the only loss in his UFC career.

Jones is all pumped for his Octagon return and is looking for more fights after UFC 197.

He is looking to fight at least three fights this 2016, with the one against Cormier being the first. After DC, Jones is looking to face Anthony Johnson and Alexander Gustaffson as well.

According to a report from Fox Sports, Jones seems to be open to moving up to the heavyweight class at some point as well.

Such came about when Jones offered himself to possibly face Stipe Miocic at UFC 196 after the sudden pullout of champion Fabricio Werdum.

"When this fight pulled out, Jon Jones said, 'How about me and Stipe Miocic fight for the interim heavyweight title?' I said, 'Let's just wait for you and (Daniel) Cormier," said White.
