The European Film market has started with many new acquisitions already underway. Among the first acquisitions out of the market were comedy "The Bribe of Heaven" and sci-fi movie "The Big Everything."

The films were acquired by International sales agent Media Luna films, which is located in Germany and which has handled films such as "Buzzard,' "The Mud Woman" and "The Verdict."

Both films are having market premieres and will be shopped around for distribution as well as for Festival premieres. The first movie "The Bribe of Heaven" is a Colombian film by director and writer Lisandro Duque Naranjo and tells the story of a community that goes against a local priest, who refuses to give a funeral mass to a suicide victim.

The movie is the latest Colombian film to go to an international film market. Last year "Embrace of the Serpent" went through the international market before going on to be an Oscar nominee and get an Oscar nomination.

It is also the latest Latino film to be picked up at the European Film market. A few weeks ago it was announced that Film Republic picked up "El Sonador" by Peruvian filmmaker Adrian Saba. That film will make its world premiere in the Generation sidebar at the Berlin Film Festival.

Meanwhile "The Big Everything" is directed by Nicolas Bazz and comes to the festival after being screened in France and receiving rapturous applause.

Media Luna will also be busy shopping numerous film as it also has Sergio Sanchez Suarez's comedy "I'm Not a Rebel" and Lukas Bossuyt's sci-fi film "Sum of Histories." Both movies will screen at EFM in search of distributors.

EFM is one of the world's largest markets and it where numerous projects are announced and where numerous projects obtain distribution deals. The market happens during the Berlin Film Festival, which is celebrating its 66th year.

The festival has already announced its lineup which will include numerous Latino films and will be judged by Meryl Streep, Nick James, Clive Owen and Alba Rohrwacher. The festival runs from Feb. 11 to the 21.
