SEGA's last hardware called Dreamcast had a short stint in the early 2000s, but that didn't stop the company from dreaming another console. According to Attack of the Fan Boy, after the company let go of their console, they have reached out to gamers with their renewed presence in the gaming software market.

Project Dream has the attention of SEGA's officials after they keep coming back for a response about their offer to revive the console. According to Twinfinite, Joanne Freeman of Project Dream continued to consistently call SEGA. She said, "It went from me ringing up to pester them for not replying to our mail and the receptionist asking for a full lowdown on what we wanted to talk to people about. After multiple pitches, contacts and phone calls, the team says they have made contact with multiple SEGA names, including a senior member of SEGA Sammy."

Despite some unpromising talks with some of SEGA's people, Freeman said that they are fairly inviting and implied that they are positive that it's going to happen. Currently, Project Dream is all about working on a proposal to make SEGA's hardware consoles and, at the same time, keeping in touch with the right people who will work on the hardware.

Project Dream admits that the 27,000 signatures who professed their eagerness to see a new SEGA hardware console prompted Project Dream to create a modern prototype of Dreamcast, something that they will propose to the company if talks will push through.

Project Dream has also expressed their willingness to work with a successor, should SEGA decide to give the project to another team and not theirs. On Project Dream's website, the team expressed their interest and plan to send a proposal to SEGA.

"We are currently working through a full proposal which will include go-to-market strategy, hardware, and software prototypes. This is more than a simple letter to Sega and includes various R&D elements," the team said on the website.

Project Dream has also revealed that they will be funding the development of a SEGA console. They have also disclosed that they will not resort to a crowdfunded project and not ask their fans for monetary support.

Freeman said, "We don't know what's going to happen, but hope it's a situation where it all goes well and they say 'yep, great, we love the idea we'll run with it.'"
