Amanda Seyfried first burst onto the Hollywood scene with her ditsy role in the Lindsay Lohan-driven smash hit "Mean Girls." Since that time, Lohan has had more run ins with the law than she's had movies, and Seyfried? Well, she became a porn star. Sort of.

Seyfried, 26, is set to star in a new biopic that details the life and times of one of the most famous women to ever bare it all for the cameras. She will play the role of porn star Linda Lovelace in the aptly-named new movie "Lovelace."

"I've read everything I can possibly read and now I just have to start physically getting into a mode. She was such a different person than what we expect. It's a good story to tell, and I'm really, really excited about it," said Seyfried in an interview.

Lovelace was the first pornographic actress to become a cultural sensation, as her movie "Deep Throat" became an instant hit at the box office, propelling her to fame. There was a very dark side to her life however, as Lovelace struggled against her controlling first husband, who forced her into the business.

"You're along with her psychology at the different stages of her life," noted Lovelace director Rob Epstein, "and when she's ready to look at her life differently, we're ready to tell the story differently."

The subject matter is admittedly dark for most of the movie. Peter Sarsgaard plays the role of Lovelace's controlling husband Chuck Traynor and admits he almost didn't take the role because of its graphic nature. There are many scenes of Traynor both mentally and physically abusing Lovelace, just as he was prone to do in real life.

The film has its lighter moments too, however. The original "Deep Throat" was about a woman who found out that her clitoris was located in the back of her throat, and many of the sex scenes aptly portray that lighter, sillier side of the business. When asked how he felt about his daughter going away to be a porn star, Seyfried's father was actually quite supportive.

"I thought he was going to be, like, 'I love you, I'll miss you so much,' " said Seyfried when recalling a recent conversation with her father. "But he was, like: 'It's in your hands. Tell her story.' And it was really intense, like tears in his eyes. He's just so proud that I have the opportunity to be responsible for that."
