“Homeland” Season 6 is airing soon, and fans are already speculating on the plot and returning characters. There are rumors that Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) will come back.

According to Vine Report, it was previously revealed that the setting of “Homeland” Season 6 will be in New York City. Season 5 happened in Berlin, Germany, with the series events bearing striking similarities to the actual rise of the ISIS terrorist group and the Paris attack. The next location may be a foreboding of things that may happen related to the real East Coast city.

David Nevins, head of Showtime, shared that there will also be other filming locations aside from New York, although he did not state these. Nevins said that the writers were greatly interested on focusing on a domestic plot for the upcoming season.

“’Homeland’ will be shot next year in New York City, and in and around New York domestically. It will be set primarily in the New York area, but not exclusively,” Nevins said in an article by International Business Times UK. He continued that similar to previous seasons, the new show will most likely delve on real world events.

Some fans opined that the storyline may touch on the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack, or something similar to it. Others speculated that the plot may also involve Osama Bin Laden. There are also talks that “Homeland” will cover issues on the current presidential campaigns, Donald Trump, who is a New Yorker, and Muslim immigration.

Nevins said that fans will also find out about Quinn’s fate after the final episode of Season 5. He said that “Homeland” attempts to live in the real world. He described that the show is not a supernatural show or about playing games. Therefore, Quinn’s chances of surviving to the next chapter will not involve any supernatural remedy.

Gary Levin, Showtime programming head, shared that if Quinn should survive to Season 6, he will not be the same man.

The New York Times wrote that creator Alex Ganza teased that something that was not in Season 5 will be returning with a vengeance in Season 6, and it will be linked to Carrie (Claire Danes).

"The fact that she's [Carrie Mathison] bipolar and that this is central to her character speaks volumes about how she chooses to live her life, and it's one that we'll always come back to every year," Ganza said.

The official launch date of “Homeland” Season 6 has not yet been announced, although many believe that the show will return in October 2016.
