The Golden State Warriors could get even more formidable next season, as reports revealed the defending NBA champions have a strong chance to acquire Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant this summer.

According to ESPN insider Chris Broussard, Durant, who will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2015-16 NBA season, is interested in moving to Golden State, where he could team up with Warriors All-Stars Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

By signing with the Warriors, Durant could end his NBA title drought. But more than the chance of winning his first championship ring, Durant admires the Warriors' style of play, which is said to be the main reason why the former NBA Most Valuable Player is intrigued by the idea of inking a deal with Golden State.

"Kevin Durant likes the way they play," Broussard said. "He likes their style, he likes the fact they play unselfishly. He sees himself fitting into that group."

Broussard also revealed that Warriors executives believe that they have a good shot at acquiring Durant this summer. While players are not allowed to talk about teaming up with a player who is in contract with another team, Broussard added that some players are also aware of Durant's possible arrival next season.

"There are people in Golden State who think they're getting him," Broussard said. "There are people in management and I think some players too."

Durant Not Thinking About Free Agency

Broussard also clarified that the Thunder still have a chance to keep Durant, especially if they win the title this year. Previous reports also indicated that the 27-year-old superstar could sign for another year and become a free agent together with Russell Westbrook in 2017.

When asked about the possibility of becoming a free agent again in the summer of 2017, Durant declined to comment, insisting that he is not yet thinking about his future because he is focused on their campaign this season.

"I haven't really thought about it, man. I'm just, with [coming back from] injury and just getting back to playing again, I haven't thought about contracts or free agency or none of that stuff at all," Durant said via ESPN. "I really haven't thought about that one."

Durant, who is averaging 27.7 points on top of 7.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this season, was also mentioned in recent trade rumors, linking him to a move to the Los Angeles Clippers. The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards are also continuously being linked to the former Texas standout.
