A knife-wielding crab is going viral on the internet. A YouTube video of the seemingly defensive crustacean has been watched by over 90,000 so far.

A 35-second YouTube video featured on Maxim showcased a crab, which was slightly smaller than a fist with a greenish shell, wielding a kitchen knife with a blue handle. The creature was reportedly from Brazil.

The footage featured a home setting with the small crab’s back against the wall and the human bullying it with his hand. The crab did its best to defend itself by constantly moving against the wall and raising its claws to counter all the poking. Its left claw was holding the blade and even slashed through the air a couple of times. The person can be heard taunting the animal as it continued to retreat while facing the enemy. It was very amusing to watch the creature seemingly capable of using a knife like a sword.

Social media users were entertained with the cute little crab, stating that it could be protecting itself from being cooked for dinner. Others joked that it may only be a matter of time before crabs learn how to use guns.

The YouTube video, which was posted on Jan. 23, has spread to other social media sites as well, with thousands of users having watched it with very curious responses.

Daily Mail stated that earlier in January 2016, another crab with a brownish shell was spotted wielding a kitchen knife too. The crustacean was believed to be located in a restaurant in Brazil, fighting for its life against people who most likely wish to serve it to hungry customers.

A video of the knife-wielding crab was posted on Live Leak, with over 168,000 viewers so far. Many viewers commented on the funny clip. Some stated that in Brazil, even a crab needs to protect itself. Another joked that in Mexico, crabs use chainsaws. Several others shared their own puns and jokes about the tiny creature.

The species of the crabs in the videos are still unknown, although the crab in the restaurant may be an Atlantic ghost crab, which is native to beaches in southern Brazil and has stalked eyes that provide it with 360-degree vision.

The popularity of crabs seems to be on the rise in Brazil. More videos of crabs wielding knives and other items are expected to be shared on social media in the next several weeks.
