Demi Lovato has learned that life isn't all about getting wasted, and she wants her Latina fans to know it.

Lovato, whose father was of Mexican and Spanish descent, graces the latest issue of Cosmopolitan for Latinas. In the magazine, she explained how the celebration of her 21st birthday last year was much different than previous years. She spent the day in Kenya for a Free the Children charity event.

"I was used
to drinking and doing drugs on my birthday," she said. "I always imagined my 21st being a huge party where I'd get shit-faced and go crazy. But I realized that there's so much more to life than that."

The pop star is also connecting with her Latina brothers and sisters until the middle of this month with the Mexican and South American leg of her Neon Lights Tour. There is no doubt, however, that she will have to continue to keep an eye on her bipolar disorder simultaneously.

"It's a daily thing," she explained. "I treat it with medication. Not everybody does that, but for me it works. That's what works for me — medicating, checking in with people, being honest, and being grateful for things."

Still, Lovato has much bigger plans than just being stable and touring.

"I definitely want to win a Grammy one day, and I dream of winning an Oscar," she shared. "I want to continue to tour and build my fan base and make music that will last for decades."

It looks like Lovato may soon recruit the help of singer Ed Sheeran to accomplish these goals. On Tuesday, she tweeted a list of her "dream collabs," which included the likes of Marc Anthony and Eminem, but Sheeran quickly got back to her.

"@ddlovato let's write a song then !" he said via Twitter.

"I am SO down!!!!!!!" Lovato responded.

Stay tuned, Latinas, looks like Lovato has plenty more in store.
