Next week Sony is expected to announce the next slate of free games coming to PlayStation Plus members in May 2016. What might be on the PS Plus free games list for May 2016, and what do the fans want?

What About AAA Games?

First off, there's the persistent AAA games question, high-quality titles, which PlayStation has occasionally offered but which is also a rare occurrence on the PS Plus free games list.

PlayStation Plus members can opine all they want about getting a AAA title come May 3, 2016 (when that month's free games go live on the PlayStation network), but most of those offering predictions are not optimistic.

Some fans are talking about Assassin's Creed Rogue for the PS3, or Driver: San Francisco, while others are hoping for Axiom Verge as a cross-buy title for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. However a lot of users on the PlayStation forum don't see any of those coming in May.

Perhaps the most hopeful and likely unrealistic guess is that Battleborn could be on the PS Plus May 2016 free games list, since May 3, 2016 is the highly anticipated title's release day. Don't bet on it.

Other Possibilities

PlayStation always includes some indie games in the PS Plus free games list, and Shovel Knight for PS4, PS Vita, or PlayStation 3 came up in forums a lot. Metal Slug 3 was also mentioned frequently, as was a Rainbow Six game (since Tom Clancy games are having a bit of a resurgence recently).

Of course, PlayStation hasn't hinted at anything, so we're left with only guesses and speculation at the moment. That will change next week, when Sony traditionally announces the titles coming out the following Tuesday, so check back with Latin Post for details when they emerge.

PlayStation Plus releases six games for free every month for PlayStation Plus members, including two games for each major PlayStation platform.
