Gina Rodriguez used her platform as one of TIME magazine's "100 Most Influential" people of 2016 to again speak out about the need for immigration reform.

"We need to keep families together and not in detention homes," the "Jane The Virgin" star recently reflected while attending Time 100 Gala, where she and other honorees were feted.

"The fact that it's even called that makes you feel uncomfortable knowing that there's no care for people as human beings," she added.

Rodriguez Glad Immigration Part of 2016 Presidential Debate

The 31-year-old, still-emerging star has long been an advocate for immigration reform and insists she is elated the whole immigration debate has become such a hot-button issue in the ongoing 2016 race for the White House.

"When it comes to the candidates, I'm very excited to see what's going to be done," she added. "Conversation is great, but we need to take action."

As it is, Republicans and Democrats couldn't be any more split on the issue.

GOP front-runners Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have both called for the mass deportations of as many as 11 million people, while democrats Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are both on the record in pushing for reforms.

Rita Moreno Sings Rodriguez's Praises

Meanwhile, Rodriguez's selection to the TIME 100 list was highlighted by the publication of an essay written about her by legendary actress Rita Moreno, where she was saluted as "down to earth" and hard working. 'I deserve this."

"Whenever she talks about herself or about being Hispanic, she's sending the message 'I deserve this, I work very hard, and I'm a good person,' Moreno added. "I can say that about myself now, but I'm 84. That she can do that with such confidence and élan at her age imparts an enormous amount of inspiration to young people."

Rodriguez was joined on the TIME 100 list by "Hamilton" star Lin-Manuel Miranda.
