"Divergent" actor Mekhi Phifer is joining the long list of celebs that are in major debt and have filed for bankruptcy.

Phifer reportedly filed for bankruptcy last month and has a debt of $1.3 million.

Yikes!

According to Phifer's legal documents obtained by E! News, the actor spends approximately $11,600 in monthly expenses, but only makes $7,500 a month.

No wonder he's in so much debt.

Phifer's grand total debt of $1.3 million is broken down into $1.2 million in back taxes, $50,000 in lawyer bills, and $4,500 in back child support.

The 39-year-old actor has listed his assets to include a leather bed, a 12-year-old Segway valued at $1,500 according to TMZ, and a collection of firearms including one shotgun and two 9mm pistols. Together, Phifer's assets come up to a grand total of $67,000.

It's not much in comparison to his overwhelming debt, but hey, at least it's something.

Mekhi Phifer is a Harlem native who is best known for his role as Dr. Gregory Pratt on the hit NBC show "E.R."  Phifer starred in the medical drama series for six years.

Phifer is also known for his TV roles on the Showtime series "House of Lies" and "Torchwood." His film credits include 2002's "8 Mile" with rapper Eminem and the 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" remake.

In 2011, Phifer also launched a film promotion company called Third Reel Films.

As for his latest projects, Phifer recent played a small role in the box office hit "Divergent," which stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James.

The "Divergent" movie is based off the book with the same name written by Veronica Roth. So far, the movie has made over $200 million at the box office and Phifer will join the cast in the movie's sequel, "Insurgent," set for release on March 20, 2015.

All the best to Mekhi Phifer. We can only hope that you take on more movie and television roles so that you can pay off this debt.
