Emily Austen, a sideline reporter for Fox Sports Florida, was caught making racist and insensitive comments in a video making the rounds online.

On June 9, Austen was part of a Facebook Live chat and, in the now viral video, the reporter insults Mexicans when the topic of high school valedictorian Larissa Martinez comes up.

Martinez, a Texas student with a 4.95 GPA and a full scholarship to Yale, made nationwide headlines when she chose to reveal her undocumented status during her valedictorian speech.

In the video, Austen can be heard saying, "I didn’t even know Mexicans were that smart" in reference to Martinez.

“I know that’s f*ed up! I didn’t mean it like that, but you see that…I mean, you guys know that the Chinese guys are always the smartest guys in math class," she added.

To further add to the growing list of insults, someone asked Austen if she thought Jewish people were stingy.

“Yeah, I went to school in Boca, so I know most of that – the way I used to talk to Jewish people in Boca, they hated – because I was a server, and I just didn’t care and they would complain and b**ch about everything," she responded.

On June 10, Fox Sports released an official statement following the release of the video.

“We were made aware that Emily Austen appeared in a social media video unaffiliated with FOX Sports in which she made insensitive and derogatory comments. She was not speaking on behalf of Fox Sports, nor do we condone any of the statements she made in the video,” said Fox Senior Vice President, Steve Tello.

“Emily has been advised that her comments were unacceptable, and she is not scheduled to appear on any upcoming Fox Sports Florida or Fox Sports Sun broadcasts.”

Austen was fired from her position and has apologized for her insensitive remarks with a statement on Twitter.
