"Jane the Virgin" star Gina Rodriguez is at the point all of her fans have been clamoring for.

Rodriguez's Jane Gloriana Villenueva character is set to finally have sex in season 3, following a script followers of the show have been calling for almost from the very first episode.

"Yes, yes, yes -- it's happening," said series executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman. "She'll lose her virginity this year for sure."

Moment Could Come at Any Point in New Season

Word is the act will come sooner rather later, and not linger all the way up until the finale of the upcoming season.

"Definitely not," added Snyder Urman. "I definitely never want it to be a season opener or a season finale. To me, it feels like it puts too much pressure on it, and that isn't what the show is about at its core. I just wanted to put that moment in the show, but not build to fireworks."

The entire theme of season 3 is being billed as "growing up," and Jane finally losing her virginity is being trumpeted as just a small part of that overall equation.

"I don't have an image and I don't yet know what it will look like," Synder Urman added. "There's a lot of pressure on that moment and I haven't drilled down -- so to speak -- on what will happen. I have a lot of different ideas on what that will be, and how big to make it, and how many complications and so forth, so I'm excited about that, but also nervous because I want to execute it well."

As for the matter of the show's title no longer fitting after Jane is no longer a virgin, Snyder Urman indicated execs plan to cross out the "Virgin" part of the title and simply keep moving forward.

What Will Come of Michael?

As for the question of who will be the guy that comes to be Jane's first, Synder Urman didn't rule newlywed husband Michael in or out. In the last episode, the two had just tied the knot, but Michael was shot before they could ever consummate things, leaving more than a few things hanging in the balance.

"Regardless of if Michael lives or if Michael dies, it's what happens after?" she said. "After something so traumatic, can you still hold on to your sense of magic a little bit? It's continuing that move from fantasy to reality."
