For some, it is Comic Con for the political world.

Others think of it as Coachella for Democrats and Republicans, because of the lawmakers, celebrities, and cable news personalities who convivially dissect Election Day issues. Voters are just over four months away from electing one of two presidential candidates with embarrassingly-high unfavorable ratings; they need a good laugh right about now.

That was Politicon's prerogative in Pasadena this weekend; to blends humor with democracy, even if attendees don't always see eye-to-eye.

Here's a look at Southern California's two-day nerdfest:

Debaters and Moderators

Saturday's contentious showdown between noted anti-immigration advocate Ann Coulter and former Obama administration consultant Van Jones drew lines around the Pasadena Convention Center corridor. Later, "The Nightly Show" host Larry Wilmore moderated the Deconstructing '16 panel featuring Democratic strategist James Carville and CNN commentator S.E. Cupp.

On Sunday afternoon, Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spoke to a standing room only crowd of about 500 attendees, giving the primarily conservative crowd reason to elect Donald Trump. Conversely, former Mexico President Vicente Fox was on site to give reason not to vote for Trump.

The Art of Politics

The Democracy Village featured paintings and sculptures from some of politics' most outspoken critics, like liberal artist Sabo and grassroots organization REVOLUTION LA.
