With just four months remaining before voters take to the polls to formally have their say in the selection of the country's next commander in chief, Hillary Clinton holds a solid lead over Donald Trump in the electoral college voting.

A new Washington Post survey finds Clinton boasting a solid 201 electoral votes to Trump's 158.

Perhaps even more encouraging for those in the Clinton camp is the fact the former secretary of state tops Trump in all seven tossups states recently gauged in a Real Clear Politics analysis.

Clinton on top in Several key States

Pollsters found Clinton leading in such states as Colorado, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin, while Trump leads in Arizona, Georgia and Utah.

The states of Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia are all still considered tossups.

Meanwhile, a recent Center for Politics Electoral College count also bodes well for Clinton, with the former first lady currently winning every state claimed by President Obama during his 2012 reelection campaign.

In all, pollsters found 347 electoral votes safe, likely or leaning to Clinton compared to just 191 for Trump. More specifically, Clinton is considered safely out front in such states as California, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Vermont, Delaware, New Mexico and Oregon.

New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Virginia and North Carolina are also deemed to be leaning democratic, while Arizona, Georgia, Missouri and Indiana are all considered to currently be in the Republican column.

Recent General Election Polls Favor Clinton

A series of recent general election polls also have Clinton holding an average five point lead over Trump. According to a Real Clear Politics analysis, Clinton's largest lead comes in a Reuters/Ispos poll, which has her up by 11 points.

Of the eight polls analyzed by RCP, the only survey that finds Trump ahead is a Rasmussen Report poll that has him up by two points.
