Thousands of people took to the streets to express their dismay at the acquittal of George Zimmerman last Saturday, and among those in attendance was music's royal couple, Jay Z and Beyoncé.

Mr. and Mrs. Carter were among the thousands of people that rallied in the streets of New York, together with people in 100 cities all over the country who are asking for justice in the death of teenager Trayvor Martin. The teen died after Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, shot him in the chest -- a case of self-defense as decided by a Florida court. Zimmerman was found not guilty by the court on Jul. 13.

However, many see the "ill judgment" as a case of racism, saying that Zimmerman accused Martin of dubious activity because of his color and that the verdict was another case of black Americans being overlooked.

Following these concerns, people who were against the verdict took to the streets, including Jay Z and Beyoncé. According to People, the couple joined over 2,000 other protesters in the streets of Manhattan.

"Jay-Z and Beyoncé said they didn't want to speak and they didn't come for a photo op," MSNBC's Rev. Al Sharpton told the people at the rally, as People reported. "Jay-Z told me, 'I'm a father. Beyoncé is a mother.' We all feel the pain and apprehension -- the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn't protect anybody ... We do not come from hate, we come from love of children."

People also called for the two artists to boycott the state of Florida and refuse to hold any concert or performances there. Protesters continued chanting "No concert in Florida," The Guardian noted. Stevie Wonder had already announced that he would boycott the state as well after the acquittal of Trayvon Martin's killer.

Beyoncé has been vocal in her support for Trayvon and her dismay at the case proceedings.

"We must fight for Trayvon the same way the generation before us fought for Emmett Till," the singer wrote on her website, The Guardian noted.
