Mars will get fresh new 'Eyes'for the mission 2020. NASA has recently tested the Landers vision system(LVS) through the agency's Flight Opportunities Program. The space agency  is advancing  the journey to Mars 2020 by starting the conversations about where humans may one day land in the Red Planet

On Tuesday NASA announced that it had successfully tested  the Lander Vision Systems (LVS)- a prototype vision systems that the Mars 2020 rover would be installed with. The camera- based navigation system is 'scientifically compelling', capable of identifying  terrains and potential hazards, would guide the spacecraft during its descent to the red planet's surface.

The Landers  vision system launched 1,066 feet into the air on board an experimental rocket built by the  California-based  Masten Space Systems. Finally, the prototype vision system was then successfully used to guide the rocket for a precise landing at a pre-designated target.

Andrew Johnson, principal investigator in the in Lander vision System said" We identified  a closed curve pinpoint landing demo that eliminated any technical concerns with flying the Lander Vision Systems on Mars 2020"

"The system can then direct the craft toward a safe landing at its primary target site or divert touchdown toward better terrain if there are danger in the approaching target area" NASA explained.

In the past Mars landers were a lot more basic issues , lacking the ability to analyze and feedback to any Jeopardy. The result is that mission planners had to select mostly flat terrain ,wide-open landing sites. NASA said, " The last Mars mission Rover could only explore areas with a very short geological features and were unable to access many sites of high scientific interest  with more complex and dangerous surface morphology,". But the new invented LVA will comparatively enable a safe landing at more "scientifically Compelling" sites on Mars.

However, MIT scientists recently developed a prototype technique to help Mars Mission 2020,the scientists of MIT says ,"The researchers best shot is to identify signs of present or formal life on Mars". The scientists  are now focused on building the flight system that will find out the Earth's neighbor.
