The latest trailer for "Underworld: Blood Wars" is out, released last Friday, October 7.  The new trailer's release timed perfectly with the New York Comic-Con, which was held last October 6-9, 2016 (Thursday to Sunday) at the Javitz Center in New York City.  The NYCC event served as the perfect venue for Underworld's stars Kate Beckinsale and Theo James, who attended the Comic-Con, to share their thoughts about the movie franchise.

In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, Beckinsale, who plays the main character Selene, gave her opinion on why fans continue to love the franchise:  "It's all fairly creative violence in Underworld, which is cool. It's always on the border of being just a little bit too much."

James, who plays Selene's ally David in the movie, said in a Facebook Live interview about Underworld: Blood Wars that, "I think it's kinda going back to more of the first movie, shot in the Czech Republic, it's a bit gothic in terms of its vibe and architecture."

Beckinsale also summed up the reason why viewers like her character so much: "She's really quite a tragic figure, in general kind of this bad-ass, who kills people in innovative and slightly twisted ways, but she's genuinely looking for love."

The fifth film in the series, Blood Wars' plot still centers on Selene as the Vampire protagonist hunted by both Lycans, led by Marius (Tobias Menzies), and Vampires, led by Semira (Lara Pulver).  Both factions are after Selene and her daughter Eve, believing that their blood being "the purest" will make them invincible; and that Selene is the "key" to end the war between Vampires and Lycans.  Her allies are: David and his father Thomas (Charles Dance).

Directed by Anna Foerster, the movie will be out on January 6 next year.  The story is credited to Kyle Ward and Cory Goodman, based on the original characters created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman & Danny McBride.
