With recent developments of events, the "Divergent" film franchise is likely to be revamped in a TV series without Theo James and Shailene Woodley.

Lionsgate has called off "Divergent Series: Ascendant" last week and the producers have decided that the next installment will be in small screens instead. Woodley previously expressed disapproval over this creative decision and openly remarked that she will not take part in the TV series. The "Fault in Our Stars" actress even divulged that she was not officially notified about the subject while James remain mum on the matter.

As events unfold, however, it seems that the complicated relationship of the duo jeopardized the renewal of "Divergent Series: Ascendant." As per MStarNews, James and Woodley became too cozy which led the actor's fiancé Ruth Kearney to flip out. If rumors are to be believed, Kearney begged James to avoid Woodley and even to give up his part in the dystopian franchise.

In addition, it seems that James is in trouble with his leading lady after Woodley was reportedly enraged over his rejection on filming "Divergent Series: Ascendant." James' refusal to continue the movie significantly affects the momentum of the whole series, thus, leaving Woodley frantic and stubbornly refusing to make any changes in the film, reported GameNGuide.

Without the on-screen couple signing in for the TV series of "Divergent," the producers would have to look for a new casting to fill the void of James and Woodley. Considering, however, that no official details have been announced yet, readers should treat this news with a pinch of salt.

The cancellation of "Divergent Series: Ascendant" might work out well for James, considering that his relationship will be left in silence now that he is away from rumored budding romantic affair with Woodley, as the media outlet noted. This, however, could significantly affect the friendship of the fan-favorite couple. Stay tuned for more updates!
