While the production of FX's "Sons of Anarchy" Season 7 is only a few weeks away, it has been recently revealed that the highly anticipated last season will return with a new female sheriff in the fictional town of Charming.

"We're trying to avoid the new sheriff in town device because we've kinda used it," SOA creator Kurt Sutter previously said in one of his video updates. However, the new sheriff role seems to conflict with what he said, as he changed his mind earlier this year claiming that several new characters would be introduced to the popular show, including new law enforcement officials.

The outlaw motorcycle club series is reportedly casting the recurring role of female character named Alice Johnson, a fit Caucasian woman in her 40s who is "serious about her work but also boasts an edgy humor." Apparently, her role in the hit series is to replace Rockmond Dunbar's character Lieutenant Eli Roosevelt, who was shot and killed by Theo Rossi's Juan Carlos "Juice" Ortiz in season 6.

Speaking of the casting members -- while main characters Charlie Hunnam's Jackson "Jax" Nathaniel Teller and Katey Sagal's Gemma Teller Morrow are set to return to the final episodes without a doubt, other supporting players, including Jimmy Smits' Neron "Nero" Padilla and Peter Weller's Charles "Charlie" Barosky, are expected to make a comeback as well.

In addition, Sutter has mentioned that he is trying to get C.C.H. Pounder, who plays Tyne Patterson, to return to season 7. However, it is still a question mark whether she could star in "SOA," as she recently signed on for the police procedural drama series, "NCIS: New Orleans." It is possible that Patterson might be able to appear in a limited amount of episodes.

"Sons of Anarchy" Season 7 is confirmed to air in September 2014 on FX.
