New announcement was made by Huawei during the Nougat update for their smartphones. The Huawei Mate 9 will run Android 7.0 which will be paired with the new and improved EMUI 5.0. There has not been any confirmation or announcement from the tech company, the information still remains as rumors and speculation until confirmation is issued.

According to GSM Arena, Android 7 update for Huawei devices will arrive through version 5.0 of the Chinese company's EMUI skin. As for Huawei P9, Nova and Nova Plus, and others  EMUI 5.0 will be rolled in the first quarter of 2017.

Other bigger smartphones vendor like OnePlus, Motorola and more have started updating their flagship smartphones or announced a particular time-frame for the Nougat update, and Huawei seems to be the last one to update in terms of Nougat.

The Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro are the some of the first devices to run EMUI 5.0 based on Nougat. Before kicking off the final builds, Huawei will roll out beta tests in which Huawei P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite or Mate 8 will also participate in the beta testing as well.

Report from itechpost stated that Huawei claims that the new EMUI 5.0 is more efficient, secure, and user-friendly.  It "significantly cuts down on the number of steps needed to achieve the desired function," the company says in a press release, adding that "furthermore, the user can reach 90% of the core functions in just two to three clicks."

Most of Huawei's preloaded apps have been given a complete visual overhaul with new UI that lets user choose between the standard layout and an app drawer. Also, it has white backdrops, light grey accents and blue highlights. And the new, darker notification shade, is more customizable than ever, with more icons shown at once than the old grid setup of old.
