DotA 2 has been one of e-sport's biggest titles. And with the release of Patch 7.00, the game will experience a ton of changes.

First on the list is Monkey King, the newest hero to join the battle. Based on Son Wukong of Journey to the West, he is a melee character with a skill called 'Mischief', granting the ability to change forms depending on the environment. His ultimate attack is called 'Wukong's Command', which brings forth multiple monkey soldiers to assist the hero in battle. According to Polygon, the hero is best suited for the "carry" position.

Aside from the new hero, many gameplay features will be added to the game. Minor changes include and update on the pre-match game screen, updated selection interface at the hero gallery and the option to see team mate's stats on the upper part of the screen. Many heroes will be getting cosmetic upgrades in the patch. Viper, for instance, gets remodeled wherein he will look less like a floating worm.

As for the major changes, there are several gameplay mechanics that the patch introduces. One of them is the backpack, which is an additional storage space, good for three items. Items placed inside the backpack are considered inactive, and when taken out would have a 6-second inactivity timer.

Another change made is the inclusion on Talent Trees. Similar to League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm, players can select one of two talents for every five levels, starting from level 10. Each talent gives additional points toward stats, health points, damage or movement/attack speeds. It may also augment existing skills, like additional damage, reduced/no mana cost, additional buffs, and the like. Kotaku makes it clear, though, that once a talent has been chosen, the other option will not be available for the duration of the game.

Several heroes received buffs and nerfs with the update, like Alchemist's Greevil's Greed Bounty Rune multiplier was changed to a constant 2x and Lycan's Feral Impulse no longer has the Attack Speed bonus. Many others received a 'Scepter' enhancement, with Anti-Mage, Bounty Hunter and Spirit Lancer being recipients of the update, among others.

All in all, Patch 7.00 is proving to be a jam-packed update, and could be a game-changer for this once mod for "Warcraft III: Frozen Throne".
