Liverpool stunned the world when it embarrassed Arsenal 5-1 at home on Saturday.

Even though the Reds were the favorites to win the match at home, few expected them to pull off the feat the way they did. And how did they do it? With a whopping four goals in the opening 20 minutes of play. Few would have expected such an implosion after the recent talk of Arsenal's defense being a difference maker this season; the Gunners had only conceded 21 goals heading into the match, good for second in the league.

Interestingly, Luis Suarez, who leads the league with 23 goals this season, did not score a single goal in the entire match and was barely a presence in the rout.

With Chelsea's 3-0 win, Arsenal fell from the top spot and now sits just one point behind the Blues in the title race. The two sides will face off at Stamford Bridge one more time this season, but the damage may already be done. Liverpool's performance simply showed that Arsenal is not as defensively sound as previously stated and can be beaten.

Does this end Arsenal's title race? The team will need more favorable results in other games. It will need a red-hot Chelsea side (and star player Eden Hazard) to hit a rough spot for a bit. It will need Manchester City to continue its road woes (which it did on Saturday) and lose some points at home (which it did last Monday). But more importantly, Arsenal desperately needs to win some big games. It must take down Manchester United at home next weekend. It needs to earn at least a draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and take down Manchester City at home. It needs Mesut Ozil to recover the form that he had early in the season and has not been able to reproduce consistently in the last few months.

Is the title still attainable? Definitely. But Saturday's game reminded Arsene Wenger's men that it will not be easy.
