Salmonella bacteria are a predominant cause of illness such as typhoid fever and food poisoning which targets the Gastro-Intestinal System of the body. In severe cases, it can lead to dehydration or loss of the important minerals of the body which can lead to death. Since food can be the main origin where it can harm man, hygiene and strict quality control in the manufacturing process must be implemented.

Because of the ongoing regulation of FDA to ensure the safety of consumers, the Food and Drug Administration already called out some products like waffle mix, kettle chips and macaroni and cheese because of they are prone to salmonella contamination. According to CNN, these products were already tested for the past weeks and are subject to eight recalls for its content of contaminated milk powder. The company, Valley Milk Products which makes Valley Milk's Sweet Cream Buttermilk Powder and High Heat Nonfat Dry Milk Powder, both sold in 50-pound bags, has been recalled due to its infested manufacturing facility.

Although the sample milk powders incurred a negative result from Salmonella, the facility which makes the products may no doubt contaminate the products it is producing. Valley Milk Products are not sold individually in the market but it is an additive or ingredient mainly to bakery products which will then be distributed to brokers. These findings have provoked the companies using the recalled milk powder to recall their products as well; however, it has been distributed to all parts of states nationwide.

One company, the TreeHouse Foods have already volunteered to recall their Aldi Cheese Club Express Mac with best by dates between Nov. 3 and Nov. 28, 2017, in a recent report by KPRC Houston, the milk powder was used on the said batch. Walmart Great Value brand macaroni and cheese original cups with best by dates between Oct. 2 and Nov. 21 were also recalled. The company encouraged their customers to throw away their products with the same batch indicated or bring it back to the store for a refund.

With this in mind, companies should be very careful in looking for the ingredient of their products as recalls as very crucial and should be taken seriously. Regardless if it the product is positive or has only been exposed to a contaminated facility, salmonella is still very harmful as exposures to it may result in diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Although it depends on the immune system of the victim, prevention is still the best cure for any kind of disease.
