Japanese manga is explicitly has interesting turn this decade with its fancy characters and great storytelling. Now, Hollywood is bringing another Japanese themed film, Ghost in the Shell, in the worldwide theaters starring with Scarlett Johansson as the titular character. Now, recent reports provide fans and expected watchers of the upcoming film with more excitement for next year.

According to Crunchy Roll, Masamune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell is surely on the way to hit the theaters as Japanese official website and Twitter released a teaser poster for the film. In the poster, it shows us Scarlett Johansson with purple hair and her character named, The Major or Motoko Kusanagi. In the photo, in Japanese alphabet, is written the words "The Body is Gitai, Only The Brain is Hers. The World Strongest Investigator."

Further, Comic Book presented an article with Johansson's take on her new role. Johansson said, "I've been a person without a body, now I'm a mind in a synthetic body," referring to her role in 2013's Her, an operating system in which the protagonist fell inlove with. Adding that "eventually, I'll go back to playing a body and brain together," while laughing.

Johansson's character, the Major, is described to be a fully functional cyborg unlike some of the members of Section 9 who only have implants. The film is said to be really faithful to the manga as oppose to other films and centers on the themes on what it really means to be human in a world where there is continuous increase on technology. Johansson ended her statement saying "This is a ride that's not just explosive and exciting, but also curious and reflective."

Ghost in the Shell arrives on worldwide theaters in March 31, 2017 with a cast of Beat Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbaek and Kaori Momoi. Stay tuned for more updates.
