The UFC has thrown up some really quixotic moments and the latest one being the offer of $200,000 by a fighter to his opponent.

Bloody Elbow reports that Khabib Nurmagomedov wants a face-off with Tony Ferguson desperately and he is even prepared to pay $200,000 to Ferguson for the fight.

This precarious situation has arisen because UFC is unwilling to pay Ferguson the same amount being paid to his opponent. UFC president Dana White has categorically rejected the plea by Ferguson.

In another report published by MMA Mania it is apparent that White is piqued by Ferguson's unreasonable demand for higher pay as he feels that the contract terms with him has to be met which obviously does not provide for a pay increase.

However, in the same report, Ferguson questions the stand taken by White as he feels that there are precedents for reworking contracts and the most recent one was when Ronda Rousey was paid $3m (as against $75,000) for her return fight with Amanda Nunes.

Ferguson's demand may not be all that unfounded as he feels that he has performed well and his winning streak justifies his demand. He cites some anomalies in the way the fighters are given opportunities especially in terms of pay-per-view (PPV).

Ferguson's reaction to opponent Nurmagomedov's offer of compensation is like a fresh of breath air. He says that he is not just about to hit his opponent and deprive him of his hard earned money. His fight is with the UFC and its pig headedness.

"I want what's mine and to be compensated for what my numbers prove to be. So, let's go kids." Says Ferguson.

The imbroglio suggests that the UFC needs to get its house in order in terms of the way it handles its fights and fighters as the play of money is very paramount for all stakeholders and a fair approach needs to be worked out rather than the subjective one that it espouses now.
