Willow Smith recently stirred controversy with an Instagram photo of herself lying in bed with Moises Arias and now her parents, Will and Jada, are currently under investigation by child protective services over the image, according to reports.

The black and white snapshot shows the "Whip My Hair" singer, who is 13 years old, slouched in front of the topless former "Hannah Montana" actor, 20. Jada Smith immediately defended her daughter's photo earlier this month: "Here's the deal. There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it... and you're acting like covert pedophiles and that's not cool."

Will and Jada Smith added that they had "no issue" with the bedroom snap shot; they said Willow is "very mature." The Hollywood couple also considered the photo as "an expression of art" and "innocent fun."

However, the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services launched a probe last week, and the parents reportedly have been "extremely cooperative." "Social workers will also be talking separately with Willow, and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well," a source said. "This won't just be one or two visits with the family, and it will likely be an open investigation for at least a month, out of an abundance of caution."

"We don't do punishment," said Will Smith last year. "The way that we deal with our kids is, they are responsible for their lives. Our concept is, as young as possible, give them as much control over their lives as possible and the concept of punishment, our experience has been -- it has a little too much of a negative quality."

"You can do anything you want as long as you can explain to me why that was the right thing to do for your life," he added.
