Are you going on vacation? Are you worried about losing your gym routine? Gymsurfing, a new iPhone app will keep your worried little mind at ease and help you find the nearest gym near you while on the road.

"Most hotel gyms are just a small row of treadmills, and maybe a half-complete weight rack. For anyone serious about working out, it's usually not enough," said Kevin Bracken, chief executive officer of Gymsurfing based in San Francisco, California. This new phone application helps gym-goers find nearby gyms and purchase day passes ranging between $5 to $20 dollars. Gymsurfing features passes from gyms in San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Miami and Toronto so far. Plans for more gym availability is in the works.

"You see a variety of gyms and amenities they offer, such as the type of equipment they have, and whether they have pools, saunas, or spas," said Bracken. The spots available through the app range from corporate-style with state-of-the-art equipment to old school bodybuilding and family style establishments. The application is only available for Apple users as of right now, but it will be available for Android phones and other devices soon.

Business travelers in the United States seem to be the most interested demographic of people using Gymsurfing. A survey showed that about 500 businessmen and women try to maintain a healthy diet and exercise while traveling. Just under half use the hotel gym to keep in shape, according to an American Express Global Business Travel study. According to MSN, "Similar iPhone apps include OmFinder, which helps users find nearby yoga classes, and Gympoints to find U.S. gyms that provide one-time day passes and drop-in classes for martial arts or Pilates."

Now there's an app we can all use. No more excuses on being far from your gym while traveling!
