On May 27, a number of indie hits and blockbusters will be released on home video in hopes of reaching a wider audience.

"Endless Love" - The biggest release of the week comes from Universal, which releases the romance that stars Alex Pettyfer. The film tells the story of a privileged girl and a charismatic boy whose instant desire sparks a love affair that makes their parents try to keep them apart. During its theatrical run, the film failed to engross audiences and it only made $23 million. Now that college students and schools are finishing, Universal hopes to attract the young audiences and expand the audience it couldn't get to the theaters.

"Run and Jump" - After its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, "Run and Jump" received rave reviews. However, IFC Films failed to give it a huge marketing push and was counting on Will Forte to drive audiences as the film came out a few months after the actor's breakout role in "Nebraska." However, the results were disappointing and "Run and Jump" only made $11,000 after five weeks. The indie flick, which stars Forte and Maxime Peake, tells the story of an American doctor who travels to Ireland to study the Casey family after 38-year-old Connor suffers a stroke which changes his personality and leaves his wife and mother Vanetia to run the show. IFC films is not really doing a marketing campaign for the DVD release and as a result the dramedy is unlikely to make more money on home video.

"A Birder's Guide to Everything" - Screen Media will also release another Tribeca Film festival hit. The coming of age drama should have benefited from its stellar cast, which includes Ben Kingsley and Kodi Smit-McPhee. However, it only made $48,713 over four weekends. "A Birder's Guild to Everything" was written by Academy Award winner Luke Mattheny and tells the story of David Portnoy, a 15-year-old birding fanatic, who thinks that he's made the discovery of a lifetime. Kingsley should easily attract audiences as he has a huge following while Mattheny could bring interest to fans of his short film "God of Love."

"Child's Pose" - Zeitgeist films will release the acclaimed Romanian movie after a short release in theaters back in February. The movie was one of the most acclaimed foreign films last year as it was also the official Oscar selection for Romania. Additionally, it won the Berlin Film Festival's top prize the Golden Bear. However, it was not a big hit theatrically as it only brought in $97,000. The movie tells the story of an affluent Romanian woman who sets out on a campaign of emotional and social manipulation to keep her son out of prison when he faces manslaughter charges. "Child's Pose" is likely to attract older audiences and will likely play well on streaming services.

"Cheap Thrills" - The SXSW Film Festival hit comes to DVD after a short theatrical run. "Cheap Thrills" was a huge festival hit, which also had premieres at the Chicago International Festival, Fantasia Film Fest, and Talinn Black Nights Film festival. The horror flick, which stars Pat Healey and Sara Paxton, tells the story of a scheming couple who put a struggling family man and his old friend through a series of increasingly twisted dares over the course of an evening at a local bar. During its post-theatrical run the movie made headlines with indie crowds and is likely to attract horror fans; it may even become a cult-classic.

"Journey to the West" - Magnolia will release the March action flick. During its theatrical run the movie had no marketing as distributor Magnolia emphasized a VOD run. As a result the martial arts action film only made $18,058. The film tells the story of Tang Sanzang, a Buddhist trying to protect a village from three demons. The film's great reviews could easily attract martial arts fans and could also build a huge following throughout the year.
