American poet Maya Angelou died on Wednesday, May 28. She was 86 years old.

In her long career, Angelou published three book of essays and seven autobiographies. She also worked on movies, television shows and plays. She was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for "Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'fore I Diie." She was nominated for a Tony Award for her role 1973's "Look Away," and she won three Grammys for her spoken-word albums. She had more than 30 honorary degrees.
