'Fairy Tail - Dragon Cry' gets a special full-color page feature and cover in issue 12 of "Weekly Shonen Magazine" thus revealing character designs for the upcoming anime movie. Aside from the colorful spread, creators have also released information about the anime movie's cast, original and new characters plus the release date. All these details have heightened the anticipation of fans everywhere with rumors that the movie will be a resounding success just like the first "Fairy Tail" film.

"Fairy Tail - Dragon Cry" will premiere on May 6, 2017 and will feature characters from the anime series like Sonia, Zashu and Animus. The film will be produced by Hiro Mashima who has created the anime TV series; Tatsuma Minamkawa from "Attack on Titan" will help production along with Shoji Yonemura. The anime movie will have music by Yasuharu Takanashi while Yuuko Yamada has designed characters for the film, Crunchyroll reported.

Returning cast like Tetsuya Kakihara as Natsu Dragneel, Aya Hirano as Luxy Heartfilia, Rie Kugimiya as Happy, Sayaka Ohara as Ezra Scarlet, Yuichi Nakamura as Gray Fullbuster, Satomi Satou as Wendy and Yui Horie as Carla. Anime News Network reported that original characters will be getting new outfits. There will also be three new all-original characters that will be introduced: Animus will be dressed like a king but will look like he has a secret plan, Sonia who was described as a lovely young woman and Zash who is strong but evil.

Meanwhile, fans were surprised when they learned that the 12th issue of "Weekly Shonen Magazine" will feature "Fairy Tail - Dragon Cry." Awesome colored covers featuring the cast were revealed but very striking was one cover with Natsu half transformed into a dark dragon. A special page also features all of the main characters of the anime with their new costumes for the movie.

Kodansha's "Weekly Shonen Magazine" was the same publication that announced "Fairy Tail's" second movie in May 2015. "Fairy Tail" manga already has anime projects, two TV anime series and a spinoff manga. The first film "Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Princess" debuted in Japan on August 2012 and was an instant hit.
