Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of the hit HBO show "True Detective," has revealed that the next season will be taking a different turn. Pizzolatoo recently shared a few hints about what the second season will be like. For starters, the setting will be in California -- not in Los Angeles, but in some lesser-known venues. The writer aims to capture the setting's certain "psychosphere ambiance," similar to how the show did in the first season.

Season 1 was shot in Louisiana and featured two lead characters that were portrayed by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. For the upcoming season, the producers are looking to have three lead characters that have yet to be cast. Pizzolatto also told HitFix about what fans should expect in the new season. He said that it will focus on strong female characters, "bad men, and the secret occult history of the United States' transportation system." Furthermore, Season 2 will have completely different characters, but Pizzolatto said that he is deeply in love with all of them. He already has a couple of scripts ready but casting will not begin until next month.

Despite the rumors, this is the first time Nic Pizzolatto openly spoke about the show. This, however, hasn't stopped fans from predicting who will be starring in their favorite television series. Some casting rumors have already been denied by the actors themselves, such as "Zero Dark Thirty" star Jessica Chastain. Still, fans are hoping for the confirmation of Brad Pitt taking the lead role in what is essentially going to be a new series. No date has been set for the release of "True Detective" Season 2, but a release date is expected to be announced once filming begins. Speculation suggests, or at least fans hope, that the new season will premiere in early 2015.
