It has been confirmed today that hit mobile game "Pokémon Go" has officially reached 650 million downloads. Developer Niantic Labs were the ones who announced the mind-blowing figure during the Game Developers Conference held today in San Francisco.

According to a report from Gamespot, Niantic Labs has recently revealed the newest and probably the biggest "Pokémon Go" milestone at Google Developer Day at GDC. On top of that, the developer's Chief Technology Officer, Phil Kreslin, have also reported that trainers have also traversed 8.7 billion kilometers or 5.4 billion miles.

Niantic's confirmation of 5.4 billion miles walked by "Pokémon Go" players in search of Pokémon is almost the equivalent distance that it would take for people to get to Pluto, apparently. This means that the game has truly been making people walk and be physical.

Back in September 2016, it has also been reported that "Pokemon Go" downloads have passed 500 million. This has also meant that, in a span of 5 months, things have been a slowdown for the super popular hit mobile app since last year.

According to other reports, despite the reported 500 million figure announced back in September has been massively declining for "Pokémon Go," the game is actually the most downloaded app on the App Store for all of the year 2016. This means that "Pokemon Go" has dominated mobile phones throughout the entirety of last year, which is a massive achievement for Niantic.

"Pokemon Go" is a free-to-play game that is currently available now on Android and iOS devices, as well as the Apple Watch. The game generates revenue from microtransactions, which have been a huge hit.

In other news, IGN reports that "Pokémon Go" has recently added 80 new creatures, to go along with a special event to celebrate "Pokémon" Day and it is already going on right now. This huge update this month, which features an addition of 80 new Pokémon to the game, seems to be a celebration of the milestone that they have just hit.
