There have been talks of "Princess Diaries 3" happening with the original stars Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews on board since last year. The sudden passing of original "Princess Diaries" director Garry Marshall put the rumors to a halt but it looks like the movie may happen in the future.

Julie Andrews who stars as Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the entire "Princess Diaries" franchise says that there is "talk" about "Princess Diaries 3" happening. She adds that Anne Hathaway who plays her granddaughter Princess Mia in the movie wants to do another film for it.

According to Just Jared, Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway are up for the happening and making of "Princess Diaries 3." Both actresses will make the movie while honoring the late director Garry Marshall who directed the original "Princess Diaries" which aired in 2001.

Garry Marshall planned "Princess Diaries 3" with Anne Hathaway last year. However, the director passed away last July 2016 after suffering from pneumonia complications preceded by a stroke. The director was 81.

The beloved "Pretty Woman" director once shared in March 2016 that he and Anne Hathaway wanted the setting of "Princess Diaries 3" in Manhattan. PEOPLE reports that Garry Marshall added that Anne was pregnant during that time so the movie has to be moved until she gave birth.

Apart from Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway willing to reprise their roles, Chris Pine from "Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" was also open to the idea. Garry Marshall hinted that Pine would have loved to join "Princess Diaries 3" because the director shared that he knew him as a kid and knows his parents.

There is no official announcement made for "Princess Diaries 3." Additionally, it is currently unknown who will take over Garry Marshall as the director of the new movie or if Chris Pine will still be open to reprise his role in the second movie.
