The MacBook Air 2017's projected release date is still widely debated whether it is coming at all or not, but fans are still very much hoping that a refresh to the famously sleek yet outdated Apple laptop will finally arrive later this year. The most recent rumor circulating around is that Apple may be thinking about launching an update Next month.

According to Inquisitr, hopes of having a MacBook Air 2017 has faded away, following a mediocre year for the laptop. But even so, the recent sale of the 2016 version on Best Buy might be giving hints to the upcoming arrival of a much-upgraded variant.

The retailer has just dropped the price of the latest MacBook Air on the last week of February, and until now, the 13.3-inch laptop is still available on the website with a price tag of $899.99, which is $100 less than its original price. This has sparked rumors that Best Buy is lowering its prices in anticipation of a newer MacBook Air.

The timing is also very telling, as an Apple event is said to be happening very soon. According to recent reports, an event might be held at the 1,000-seat Steve Jobs Theater in the new Apple Campus that will open in April, which is next month.

Many analysts and experts suspect that the tech giant will be making an official announcement regarding the new iPad lineup on April 4. Several reports have also picked up this speculation.

According to Mac World, aside from the new iPads, Apple might also be thinking about revealing other devices during the event as well. It's also worth noting that the 2016 12-inch MacBook and the depressing refresh to the MacBook Air were both announced in March of last year, which is why fans are also likely to expect an update regarding the said gadgets around that time as well.

There are also persisting rumors that the MacBook Air will no longer be refreshed. Speculations suggest that Apple will still be keeping the lightweight laptop in its lineup, but will discontinue it completely once it becomes more costly to keep.
