Formula One's Pre-season test has already pinched the fire of the main event. The records and runs have started indicating this year's race to be superlative. The clash of speedy titans is hinting towards a new trend to be set this season. The latest addition to these peaks is the fastest lap record clinched by Mercedes newly signed talent Valtteri Bottas, who even broke down the record of Lewis Hamilton.

According to BBC, Bottas took the fastest lap of the winter on the second day of the final pre-season test, while, Kimi Raikkonen crashed his Ferrari in the same run. He was not injured but the accident interrupted Ferrari's run of the day. Bottas cracked the record with a lap of one minute 19.310 seconds. In this manner, he beat his closest contender Williams' Felipe Massa by just 0.11 seconds. Bottas used the super-soft tyre while taking his fastest lap whereas at the similar period of time Massa took his lap with a ultra-soft tyre.

As per a report by Reuters, by taking up this fastest lap Bottas also broken the pole record made by Formula One champ Lewis Hamilton by approximately three seconds. Earlier, in January this year, Bottas joined from Williams as the replacement to retired world champion Nico Rosberg. He all totally completed 70 laps on last Wednesday. Bottas clinched the record in the morning session of the run. The fastest lap records of the final pre-season test run's second day (i.e: the previous Wednesday) reflected Valtteri Bottas for Mercedes at the first position with the best lap timing at 1:19.310 secs.

The second best lap record was made by Felipe Massa for Williams with 1:19.420 seconds for his fastest lap of the day. The third position for the second day was clinched by Kimi Raikkonen for Ferrari with 1:20.406, who also crashed in the game.
