Ben Affleck has announced on Facebook that he has just finished his alcohol addiction treatment and said that this problem was something that he has dealt with in the past and will continue to get help for.

He cites his family and friends as his support system and made sure to thank his "co-parent" Jennifer Garner as well. "The Batman" star said that there is no shame in getting help and would like to set an example to people who are in the same boat as he is.

Sources close to Ben Affleck said that the actor/director checked himself in, Vanity Fair reported. There was no incidence or events that led to his decision to get help. The 44-year old actor said that he wants to be the best dad to his kids and a source of strength for anyone who needs help but is afraid to do so. He specifically thanked Jennifer Garner and called her his co-parent. Affleck ended his post by saying that this was just one of the many steps that he took for recovery.

This was not the first time Ben Affleck sought help for alcohol addiction. He checked into rehab in 2001 in an effort to curb his family's history of alcoholism. He stated in an interview that he wanted to end the cycle and clear his head. He admitted partying too much and had no sense of personal boundaries; he wanted to find out who he really wanted to be.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's divorce is still on hold, People reported. They have announced their separation two years ago but continued to live together in their family home and take vacations and trips together. Sources say that the couple continue to support each other but are not back together.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have been spotted in family events and the latest one was their holiday in Montana. The two previously told interviews that they are co-parenting their kids and love them very much. Ben Affleck has a very busy schedule lately as he films for his movie "The Batman" but he continues to stay true to his co-parenting duties and his alcohol addiction treatment.
