The next update to OnePlus' Android smartphone flagship, dubbed as OnePlus 5 - or OnePlus 4 to some - is still unofficial. But many fans have already tried to predict the specifications of the upcoming handset. Some believe the next smartphone could have a premium look with a different design.

Rumor has it that the OnePlus 5 could sport an all-glass design that could give the exterior a more premium look compared to its predecessors. It was originally reported that the smartphone will have a ceramic body, as reported on Gizbot. If the latter does happen, then the upcoming OnePlus phone could become quite similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix flagship.

Another interesting prediction that the rumor mill has suggested for the OnePlus 5 is its water and dust protection, also known as IP68 rating. A lot of high-end phones today offer the same rating under its hood. If the upcoming OnePlus really does, in fact, come out as a premium handset, then an IP68 rating is very much likely to be included.

This could be a selling point for OnePlus 3T users to upgrade to OnePlus 5, considering that the former doesn't have this kind of protection. However, it's important to take note that nothing has been written in stones yet. That being said, it's advisable to take these features with a tiny pinch of salt and consider it as mere rumors for the time being.

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 5 is being expected to come with a 5.5-inch dual-curved edge screen with Full HD display resolution. Under its hood, as said on Droid Report, the phone is going to boast 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage.

As for its processor, WCCFTech reported that the OnePlus 5 may run using Qualcomm's current-gen Snapdragon 835. Google's Android 7.0 Nougat could run also power up the smartphone as its operating system right out of the box.
