Legendary Pictures is all set to release the sequel to 2014's monster film Godzilla. The reboot will appear by the name of "Godzilla: King of Monsters", but before that the casting negotiations are currently in the works for the action thriller.

IGN reports that the follow-up "Godzilla: King of Monsters" will only feature only one regular cast from the 2014 blockbuster. Ken Watanabe is expected to reprise his role as Dr. Ishiro Serizawa in the sequel. However, talks regarding the return of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen are still up in the air as they are not likely to make a comeback.

Based on the casting speculations, "Straight Outta Compton" protagonist O'Shea Jackson is being noted for the movie. However, no official statements regarding his recurrence have been made yet.

Variety has reported that Jackson Jr. might be on the list to be considered for the lead role in "Godzilla: King of Monsters". No further details regarding the character have been dished out for now, but if it is true, then it will be Jackson's big break as the film itself is thought to be highly-budget one.

If deemed true, Jackson Jr. will be working alongside Watanabe, Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), and Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel). The sequel "Godzilla: King of Monsters" name is expected to be Brown's film debut.

The sequel was first unveiled during an announcement made at the 2014 Comic-Con. It confirmed the happening of the sequel and also maintained that it will feature iconic Toho monsters King Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra.

Legendary and Warner Bros. announced in late 2015 that all previous "King Kong" and "Godzilla" movies will be completed by the former and distributed the latter. Legendary currently holds a distribution deal with Universal for the latest "Kong: Skull Island", but in order to amalgamate Godzilla and King Kong, the studio reverted the rights to WB.

The scripting is completed by Michael Dougherty accompanied by Zach Shields (Krampus). It is slated to air on March 22, 2019.
