Rafael Nadal will look to keep his fifth straight French Open title hopes alive when he collides with David Ferrer in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros 2014 on Wednesday.

The top-seeded Nadal and fifth-seeded Ferrer will collide after the women's quarterfinal match between Svetlana Kuznetsova and Simona Halep, which is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. EST at the Court Suzanne Lenglen.

Nadal, who is aiming to win his ninth French Open title, is coming off an emphatic win over Dusan Lajovic of Serbia, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, on Monday, improving his Roland Garros record to 63-1 with his only defeat coming in the fourth round of the 2009 tournament.

The 28-year-old Spaniard will be a favorite heading into their match, but he said he expects Ferrer to play with a lot of confidence on Wednesday. Nadal, who has won 21 of their 27 matches, lost to Ferrer in the Monte Carlo quarterfinals last month.

"He is coming to the match with confidence from his last win, so it will be a tough one," Nadal said. "I think I am a little bit better than when I was playing against him in Monte Carlo. But I think he's playing great, too."

Ferrer said he is also confident about his chances in their quarterfinal showdown, but the world No. 5 player admitted that defeating Nadal in the French Open is a tough task.

"I will try to do my best," Ferrer said. "I will try to play aggressively with my forehand and try to finish the points at the net. But of course it's going to be difficult with Rafael on a clay court. Tactically, I will have to be perfect. I hope that I will instill some doubts in Rafa's mind, but if we play at our best level, both of us, he will be the better player."

The French Open 2014 quarterfinals will be shown live on ESPN 2 and Tennis Channel, and fans can also catch the action through online live stream via WatchESPN and Tennis Channel Plus.
