A new report reveals that Hollywood actor Michael Jace told his father-in-law that he shot his wife moments after the shooting.

The Los Angeles Fire Department released a three-minute 911 call that includes a statement by April Jace's father saying that the actor confessed to shooting and killing his wife, and asked him to come and get the couple's two young children, reports Fox News.

"The Shield" star also called 911 to report the shooting. He was arrested on May 19 and is set to be arraigned on June 18.

Jace's attorneys, Jason Sias and Jamon Hicks, did not give a comment about the audio's content.

In light of her death, April's family has released a statement about the 40-year-old mother of three. She and Jace had two sons together, ages 5 and 8, and she also had an 18-year-old son from a previous marriage.

"Now, her youngest sons are left without a mother or a father to care for them," the family's statement wrote, according to USA Today. "As the press dies down, these precious young boys will be left with ongoing reminders of their utterly tragic loss."

In 2011, reports show that Jace filed for bankruptcy while there is evidence that he had fallen behind on payments to creditors as recently as December.

In addition to his role on "The Shield," Jace had a recurring role on the TNT's "Southland." The New Jersey native also played law enforcement agents on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Private Practice," "The Mentalist," "Burn Notice" and "NYPD Blue." Plus, he landed small roles in major movies like "Forrest Gump," "Boogie Nights" and "Planet of the Apes."

Although Jace has no prior criminal record, TMZ reports that he has a history of extreme domestic abuse. Legal documents obtained from his 1997 divorce from his first wife, Jennifer Bitterman, reveal that Jace was excessively violent, even in front of their 6-month-old son.
