President Bolsonaro Sends National Troops to Control Nationwide Police Strikes

In the northeastern state of Ceará, the national guard troops and the army have been sent by the current leader of Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro, who said an article from Latin Times. This is the leader's response to cease the chaos and violence that were caused by many of the Brazilian police officers who had organized a strike.

The Shooting of Senator Cid Gomes

Upon learning of the shooting of Senator Gomes in Sobral, Camilo Santana had requested for backup and called for troops to come and help control and stop the strike.

Previously, it was reported in Fox News that senator Cid Gomes was shot and injured while trying to stop the chaos being caused by the strike of many police forces. It was told in a report that Senator Gomes had driven a backhoe towards a barricade that the protesting policemen had created. The strike was done in the city of Sobral in Brazil. 

According to the brother of Senator Cid Gomes, he disagrees that the guy, in his 20s, who has the strength to shoot a senator of the country has loyalty to the president of the country. Gomes' brother was blaming the shooting of the senator to President Jair Bolsonaro. However, some of the supporters of the current president of Brazil are seeing the shooting incident as a form of self-defense. 

The Message of President Bolsonaro to the Policemen on Strike

Bolsonaro had said a warning to the people in the country who were committing crimes. He said that they should be warned that the country's forces (who are wearing green) are coming and the results of their response to control the strike will not look good.

President Jair Bolsonaro was a former captain in the Brazilian army. His past had caused him lots of criticisms from many critics. It was observed that President Bolsonaro had been expressing his support for the violent actions of the Brazilian police officers. Another thing that had caused Bolsonaro to achieve criticisms from various critics was his statement about wishing that criminals die on the streets like "cockroaches."

The Strikes of Police Forces in Brazil

The group of military police held their strike at Ceara. They performed the strike to make sure that their demand for higher pay is given by the government.

The strikes are representations of the dissatisfaction of the country's entire police force. According to the lawmaker named Davi Maia, the governor had given a big number of promises to the military police that was not transformed into action. 

In the different regions of Brazil, police forces had been expressing their disappointment through strikes. An example is a strike that occurred in Paraiba where military police in the area had conducted a strike for 12 hours straight on February 19. This was also effective in other states such as in Minas Gerais. After a threat of a strike by the military police in the area, a 42 percent increase was granted.

The threats of strikes had resulted in many violent cases in the Ceara state. These strikes had resulted in the deaths of more than 88 individuals in the previous three days.
