The upcoming animated film of Disney "Onward" will feature the first LGBTQ character. The film features a lesbian character according to a published report in Breitbart.

The entertainment industry including the animated film sectors has now slowly opened its doors to feature LGBTQ in their movies and animated films. The Walt Disney Company is one of the biggest entertainment media industries in the world that produced animated films and movies for kids and young adults.

They started operating since 1923 and has headquarters in Los Angeles and California in the United States. Walt Disney is still growing with an estimated income in 2019 of around $69.57 billion. They have also greatly influenced viewers.

This time, Walt Disney will be releasing a new animated film "Onward" that will feature the first LGBTQ character under the Walt Disney Company. One of the characters in the animated film in is a cyclops police officer named Spector who is reportedly lesbian. The character is voiced by openly gay actress, Lena Waithe.

Even though the character only appeared once in the movie, this is a signal that Walt Disney and Pixar are now more open for new characters who belong in a marginalized sector like the LGBTQ.

This film is about Ian and Barley Lightfoot, two teenage elf brothers, who received a wizard's staff that was pre-arranged by their father before he died, and before Ian was born. At that time Barley was also too young to remember his father. The wizard's staff can bring back his father for only 24 hours and will allow the characters a chance to finally meet.

Ian uses the spell, however he ends up only having his father's legs back. This forces the two brothers to embark on a quest that will hopefully help them bring back the rest of their father before time is up.

This is one of the must-watch movies coming this 2020. The film's producer, Kori Rae, told a news outlet that "It just kind of happened. The scene, when we wrote it, was kind of fitting and it opens up the world a little bit, and that's what we wanted." Rae is referring the one appearance of the lesbian character in the animated film.

Moreover, it can be remembered that the LGBTQ community has been putting pressure to put some queer characters in the animated film industry to boost the representation of the marginalized group.

One of the trending topics that went viral online before was their request to have Princess Elsa in Frozen a girlfriend in its sequel. They even intensified their campaign on social networking sites with a #GiveElsaAGirlfriend.

Even though, the request to have this was not granted, Disney features a Lesbian kiss in its most popular movie "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker."

Even though this is the first time that Disney will be featuring its first LGBTQ character in its animated film, but Disney has featured already gay characters and other LGBTQ characters in its previous films. One of these is in its Disney Channel show "Andi Mack" which was aired from 2017 to 2019.

This is about how Andi navigates her life after she knew that her sister was her mother and the woman she thought her mother was her grandmother. One of the friends of Andi was Cyrus and as the show progresses viewers found out that Cyrus is gay and is struggling to come out to his real-identity.

This move of Disney-Pixar is expected to give big changes in the animated film industry to be more open about putting LGBTQ characters in their animated film.
