Mulan (in Chinese:花木兰 or Hua Mulan) is one of the most iconic women in ancient and modern China. Her name, which means flower and magnolia, has been a symbol of China since olden times.
Mulan's story originated from ancient texts and is connected to China's 4th or 5th century AD. It was later retold in a famous folk song The Ballad of Mulan.
The ballad, which consists of 31 couplets, tells the tale of a girl named Mulan who volunteered herself as her father's "son" to prevent her ailing father from enlisting in the war.
Mulan stayed in the military for ten years and gained high merit for her work. She also fell in love with an officer name Jin Yong (Sorry Shang shippers) with whom she fell in love with.
Disney turned the ballad into the 1998 animated classic we know and love today. In celebration of the recent live-action adaptation of the movie (which follows the ballad wholeheartedly), here is every Mulan collectible you'll ever need.
