Latin Business

New York is known for its busy life, hence known for "the city that never sleeps". People are always on the go, roads are still busy, and places are always crowded. But some places in
Manhattan reside many Latinos and Latinas. They even put up businesses for them to survive in the city.

For years, Americans have also learned to love them, especially their food. These Latinos businesses include restaurants, and they are famous for their food. Many people go to their restaurants to eat or better yet to grab some food along the way to go to work. Clients and customers become patrons of these restaurants because of their exquisite style of cooking.

Sonia Henriquez, a Latina who has a restaurant in New York City, has experienced these things. People come and go to her restaurants, and they always come back for more. Her customers love her food. They always come to her restaurant to order take out, or for some people who crave food in the middle of the night, her restaurant is the number one go-to place.

This has been a routine for sixteen (16) years living in a Latino neighborhood in Manhattan. And this kind of business helped her big time in living in a place that is entirely different from where she came from.

But this long time routine has all of a sudden changed because of the fast-spreading virus, which is famously known as Coronavirus Disease 19 (CoViD19). Because of this virus, her business is affected, big time. Her employees must sanitize the tables and chairs every before and after the customers have used it.

They need to sanitize everything for every 15 to 20 minutes all day, every day.

Her restaurant business has gone down quickly due to the social distancing of the customers and the quarantine. It also affects her profit by closing the schools and the people who chose to work from home. This is due to the fact that New York City has the highest rate of number of people who are infected with the Coronavirus.

The mayor, Bill de Blasio, had signed an executive order not to allow the restaurants to conduct delivery and allow take outs only in an effort to prevent the gatherings of more than 50 people. Sonia felt the sudden change in her business' atmosphere. But her restaurant is still open 24 hours and doing delivery up to 11 pm.

Aside from the virus scare, her goal is to be open and remain open and keep half of her employees working unless the authorities say otherwise.

She also said that restaurant owners like her are willing to do anything to address this pandemic. If the authorities order that all restaurants will be closed then they will close. They wanted to abide by the law to help minimize, or better yet prevent, the further spreading of the virus. All business owners wanted to stop the pandemic as soon as possible because it is their livelihood that is affecting, aside from the fact that it is life-threatening.
