Ivan Rakitic is reportedly on his way out of his Sevilla FC as reports indicated that the midfielder is set to move to Barcelona next season.

Veteran Luka Modric confirmed that his fellow Croatia international has agreed to a deal with Barca. Modric said that he would have enjoyed playing with Rakitic with Real Madrid, but his World Cup 2014 teammate opted to move to Camp Nou starting next season.

"In the end it could not be, and he has gone to Barca," Modric said of his desire to play alongside Rakitic in Real. "I am very happy for him -- he deserves it. To go to a big club like Barca, with a global dimension, is an important step in his career."

Modric insisted that Rakitic deserves to play for a prestigious football club like Barcelona, especially after proving his worth last season, helping Sevilla capture the Europa League and finish fifth in the Primera Division.

"Everyone has seen this season what he is capable of doing," Modric said of Rakitic. "He is a great footballer who is improving. I am convinced that his performances in the coming seasons will be even better."

According to Sport, Rakitic's move to Barcelona could trigger several big moves, including Cesc Fabregas' transfer to Chelsea and a possible change of scenery for Xavi Hernandez.

Meanwhile, recent reports indicated that Yaya Toure will leave Manchester City this summer.

Toure remains mum about the reports, saying that he will only talk about his future after his stint with Ivory Coast in the ongoing World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

But his father, Mory Toure, said in an interview with Goal.com that Yaya Toure will end up staying at Etihad Stadium.

"No, he won't leave," Mory Toure said of his son. "And it's not even my wish that he leaves Manchester City. It's said that the most wished for changes bring their sadness. And I reconfirm that he won't leave."

Toure, who signed a new deal last year to extend his stay with City until after the 2017 season, netted a career-best 24 goals last season.
